Do you ever feel like you're missing context when it comes to biblical accounts? I do. I often find that stories seem to flow in a way that doesn't make sense to me. I realize that biblical authors probably weren't concerned with twenty-first-century expectations, and I suppose this is one explanation for so much exegesis through the centuries.

The decision to divide the text into chapters and verses contribute to the lack of flow. They were not originally written with divisions but the need for reference points outweighed prose considerations.
