Title: The Coordinated Social Media Attack Against Alex Jones
Post by: Donald Baker on August 07, 2018, 04:59:22 PM
How do you feel about what Apple, Spotify, Youtube, and Facebook have done to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones?  Is he the tip of the iceberg to what is coming down the pike?  Are we living in the era of what Clyde Lewis calls "unapproved knowledge?"  Is there a monopoly on information by the social media giants?  Will they target mainstream Christians next?

Here's what a wise sage once said (http://www.christian-legacies.com/forum/index.php?topic=25.msg53#msg53) about these social media/tech companies:

This is only the tip of the iceberg, though.  It's easy to see how they could use their hegemony to push a certain socio-political vision in our country, whether we - the citizens - agree with it or not.  That's a very scary thought.

Just saw this about how Youtube is now inserting "fact check" blurbs by videos that deny climate change.

YouTube Is Fighting Back Against Climate Misinformation (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/zahrahirji/youtube-climate-change-denial)

Seriously?  I mean seriously?  So Google is now in charge of selectively "correcting" videos on its service?  This is why this is only the tip of the iceberg  It can get a whole lot worse than this once big tech companies start becoming the "safeguards" of approved knowledge.  This could truly develop into a quasi-1984 scenario in which people need to march lock-and-step with the status quo or get into trouble.

And I didn't even mention how Twitter employees are apparently trying to persuade Jack Dorsey to kick Alex Jones off Twitter.
